Message from the President

Greetings to Parents, Students, and Supporters of the DC Hampton Parents’ Club.

Welcome to the website for DC Hampton Parents’ Club. We are pleased that you have an interest in our Club. Our mission is:

To support a positive college experience for students attending Hampton University, while fostering academic excellence and embracing the HBCU spirit.

We are off to a good start and looking forward to a great year. Your participation and support are critical to our success as we move forward to meet our goals for the 2007 - 2008 academic year:

• To retain and increase membership

• To increase participation of parents and students in affairs of the club

• To set fundraising goals

• To ensure club participation in related HBCU forums

As a member or associate, this club belongs to you. You will have the opportunity to become involved in our special committees/workgroups. Our role is to advocate and support the students and parents. To this end, the parents meet monthly to discuss issues and concerns and share solutions and strategies. If deemed appropriate and necessary, we will investigate and contact the Hampton University administration.

Our club has several fundraisers throughout the year that provide scholarship money to our students. In addition, we serve as a communication hub for the sharing of information about internships, employment opportunities, students housing and relevant social events. We benefit greatly from our partnerships and association with the nationa and local Hamption University Alumni Association and the National Organization of College Parents, Inc.

DCHPC is approaching its 40th anniversary. Our sincerce gratitude is extended to the founders and all those parents who have come before us. What a legacy we have inherited! Let us join together and proudly carry the torch forward in support of the Hampton University families of the D.C. metropolitian area.
